October Meeting – The Dark Side: The Making of a Haunted House

Join us this month as we celebrate the Halloween season with special guest speaker Tamara Pritchett. Tammy will give us an insider’s look at the making of one of our area’s most popular, and terrifying, Halloween attractions – the Boo Crew Haunted House and Trail of Lost Souls in Mechanicsburg, IL.

The production of a “haunted house” is much like the production of an independent movie. It requires advanced planning, location, set design, props, scripting, actors, makeup, wardrobe, special effects – all the elements of a great horror movie, minus the actual filmmaking. In fact, many people involved in haunted attractions also work in the film industry.

Our meeting will be on Thursday, October 18 at 7:00pm at the Wyndham Springfield City Centre in the Grille Breakfast room. The Wyndham is located at 700 E Adams Street in downtown Springfield, IL. Free parking is available on the street. Paid parking is available in the parking garage attached to the Wyndham. Our meetings are free and open to the public.

The Central Illinois Film Commission is a membership organization dedicated to promoting central Illinois as a historical and film-friendly region, attracting and serving the film, television, video, photography, documentary, and music industries, while promoting and supporting the talent, services, and experience of our members.

Hope to see you there!
